Instructions for Manuscript Submission/Presentation

This section explains the method for submitting a manuscript to The Association of Rural Planning and presenting it at the Spring/Autumn conferences.

Journal of Rural Planning consists of “Issue No.1 – No. 4” and a “Special Issue.” Furthermore, academic research presentation meetings are held during the Spring and Autumn conferences.


Guide to authors

The Association of Rural Planning (hereinafter, ARP) invites the submission of articles and reports to be published in the Journal of the Rural Planning (Issues No.1 – No.4, published in June, September, December, and March, and the Special Issue, published in November). Please refer following documents, including Submission Guidelines and Instruction for Authors, to prepare a manuscript.

I.    Issues No.1 – No.4

1. Category: Article or Report; Japanese or English
2. Timing of calling for papers: At any time
3. Qualification for submission: The lead author must be a member of ARP (a regular member, an associate member, or a prospective member who will apply for membership at the time of the submission)
4. Presentation: After a manuscript is accepted, anyone who wishes may present orally at the Autumn Conference provided that he/she meets the requirement.


II.   Special Issue

1. Category: Article or Report; Japanese or English
2. Timing of calling for papers: April to mid-May. Please check the Guidelines for Special Issues.
3. Qualification for submission: The lead author must be a member of ARP (a regular member, an associate member, or a prospective member who will apply for membership at the time of the submission)
4. Presentation: In principle, the lead author, whose article/report is published at the Special Issue, is obliged to make an oral presentation of his/her article / report at the Autumn Conference of Rural Planning.

5. Continued evaluation: If a decision for acceptance is not made by mid-September, publication of such articles/reports will not be made in the Special Issue of the relevant year. If the author wishes, the evaluation can be continued for publication in the Issues No.1–No.4 (called continued evaluation).


Presentation

I.   Contributing to Journal of Rural Planning (special issue) and presenting at the Autumn Conference

Articles and reports for the “Special Issue” are due around mid-May each year. According (Prior) to their publication, peer-reviewed articles and reports must first be presented orally at the Autumn Conference.

II.  Presenting at the Spring Conference

Applications to the academic research presentation meeting (poster style, no peer review) held at the Spring Conference (early April) are due by early February each year. You must submit a summary of the presentation with the application. Please see the Spring Conference page for further details on how to submit a contribution.
